Australian by Nature Squalene is a dietary supplement that helps facilitate the delivery of oxygen throughout the body and may assist in maintaining a healthy immune system. Squalene assists in maintaining human health and well-being.
In humans, Squalene ingested orally is absorbed extremely well and synthesised by the liver and secreted into the bloodstream to be found in the sebaceous glands
As we age our bodies do not produce less Squalene, so it is necessary to obtain it through our food intake or the intake of dietary supplements.
What is Squalene?
Squalene is a natural highly unsaturated compound extracted from the livers of deep-sea sharks. Deep-sea sharks have a unique ability to survive in water of depths between 600m to 1000m. The secret to their survival in such extreme conditions with poor oxygen and high pressure is their liver. A shark’s liver can account for 25 to 30% of its total body weight.
Squalene is a low-density compound often stored in the bodies of cartilaginous fish, such as sharks, which lack a swim bladder and therefore must reduce their body density with oils and fats. Squalene is mainly stored in the shark’s liver.
Shark Liver Oil is recognised as the richest natural source of natural squalene.
